At Orbitso, our mission has always been to provide a reliable, secure space for your files. However, with that responsibility comes a deeper duty to ensure our platform is never used to exploit or harm the most vulnerable among us.

After much internal deliberation, we are making a significant update to how media files are handled on Orbitso file hosting. Moving forward, our primary concern is protecting the victims behind abusive content.

To achieve this, we are adjusting our encryption workflow to implement automated safety checks. Here is exactly how it will work:

How the New Upload Process Works

  • Temporary Pre-Encryption Check: When you upload a media file, it will briefly remain unencrypted so our automated system can analyze it.
  • AI Safety Scanning: The file will pass through an advanced AI detection system designed specifically to flag illegal content and material exploiting children.
  • The Threshold (95% Score): The AI generates a confidence score. Any file that returns a safety risk score of 95% or higher will be automatically and permanently deleted from our servers immediately.
  • Immediate Encryption: If the file passes the safety check (scoring below 95%), it will instantly proceed to be fully encrypted and stored securely, just as before.

A Hard But Necessary Decision

We understand that privacy is a core reason you trust Orbitso, and changing our encryption pipeline was not an easy decision to make. We know this might raise questions for some of our users.

We believe that absolute privacy should not come at the cost of child safety. By placing this automated check at the front door of the upload process, we can actively prevent harmful material from being hosted on our network while maintaining strong encryption for the vast majority of our users' safe, legitimate files.

We are committed to transparency as we roll out these changes. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep Orbitso a safe community for everyone.
